No matter how much I like my Axe FX, and how easy it is to use, I still love old-school tube amps. I've always been intrigued by the SLO, but I've moved to smaller, lower power amps and will never (never say never...) own a 30" head again. I have to write that the SLO is really everything it's advertised to be. It's got a ton of crunch, but not. It is super clear and cleans up, but has amazing sustain and pinch harmonics. It's got a heavy low-end, but with the depth control this can be set for not too much. The clean channel is super clean and clear. Crunch mode absolutely rocks - it's very much a plexi-style tone, but with more gain than I'm using. Overdrive is incredible. Super hair-metal. Lynch, Demartini. Great stuff. The price of admission is up there, but it's a keeper for sure. Plenty loud for any gig I'd play, and way more than I need for home. Torpedo Live is a perfect match for the amp at home. Highly recommended.
